Richard went to school in Grantham. Obtaining a Law Degree at The University of East Anglia he then attended The College of Law at Guildford and qualified as a solicitor in 1990.

Richard became a partner of the firm of Double and Megson in July 2001. More recently Richard became the partner responsible as Compliance Officer for Legal Practice in 2016.

Having an interest in litigation from the beginning of his career Richard has had a particular emphasis in Family work from his training before joining the firm and up until today a period of 30 years. Family work has comprised a third of his matters since qualification. Similarly Richard has had an interest in Civil Litigation and Employment instructions over the same period which again has made up around a third of his workload.

Richard acknowledges that legal matters can be stressful and always seeks to be down to earth and approachable. It is essential to have empathy with every client. This approach also assists Richard in his work with senior and vulnerable clients when assisting with their Wills, Estates and Lasting Power of Attorney. Having thirty years of experience of dealing with senior clients Richard always seeks to put clients at their ease.

Having a knowledge of different subject areas is a tradition that Richard feels is a real benefit for clients in ever changing times.
